Yellow ligament (Ligamentum flavum)

This is the nickname for the ligament which lies between successive Laminae of each vertebra.  Hypertrophy of this ligament may result in Spinal canal stenosis or narrowing with compression of the spinal cord or nerve roots.  This is particularly common in the lumbar spine where it produces the syndrome of Neurogenic claudication.
